Bio

Dr. Jonathan Nuwer has over 18 years of experience in the field of environmental chemistry and oceanography, with specialization in chemical forensics—the integration of chemical analyses, fate and behavior, source identification methods, and operational practices—to determine the nature, sources, and fate of environmental contaminants. He has served as technical advisor or provided expert opinions at state and federal sediment cleanup sites concerning the sources and patterns of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), chlorinated pesticides, chlorinated dioxins and furans, metals, and pharmaceuticals. Dr. Nuwer has managed multidisciplinary teams of technical specialists in support of CERCLA cases with a focus on designing cost allocation models and assessing the liabilities of individual parties. He also has substantial experience developing and negotiating program strategies with clients, attorneys, and regulatory workgroups.
